First of all, are e-cigarettes not great? You already know this; whether you are weaning yourself off of tobacco, have replaced it completely, or need a standby in situations that do not allow smoking. They are often more affordable than the alternative and certainly better for your lungs.

You also know how costly it can be when you take the plunge and decide to set up your first e-cig apparatus initially - from the vape unit itself to the e-liquids you enjoy. Protecting your investment is important but so is your personal safety

It seems lately there has been a slew of incidents with exploding e-cigs. The reasons for this vary but overheated batteries share a large part of the blame, but then so do unknowing e-cig users. Here are a few simple strategies to ensure you do not have the same problem:

• Keep your unit, charger included, out of the heat
• Make certain you are charging your e-cig properly
• Do not allow e-liquid to build up on either the battery end or the base of the e-liquid tank - cleanliness is key here and regular maintenance is a necessity

Lastly, and this is so important I left it out of the list because it deserves an entire paragraph, read the instructions that accompany the e-cig when you purchase it. Each e-cig is different and with the ever-growing popularity of e-cigs, many different brands and models are now available. Even an old hand at vaping can miss an important detail and later have a mess on their hands.

Finally, as with anything manufactured, there is always the chance a faulty e-cig will make its way to market. As long as you use the vape unit for its intended purpose, and utilize common sense, returning the faulty device for a new one or receiving your money back should not be an issue.
