You do not want your MOD short-circuiting a week after its purchased, which is why you should stick to trusted brand names. Always purchase your batteries from an authentic seller. All personal devices utilize high discharge lithium batteries. If you purchase cheaper batteries from an untrustworthy company or website, it could not only damage your MOD, but cause some damage to you, as well.

Carrying Your MOD Safely
I have a list of things I hope never happen to me, an explosion in my pocket is somewhere on that list. Imagine walking down the street, hearing a loud noise come from your pants, and seeing a large black spot on your leg followed by second degree burns. This might sound silly, but it is very possible. Most mechanical MODs come with a locking mechanism, which prevents it from firing in your pocket. Some MODs do not come with this feature, causing them to continuously fire and become extremely hot. This can cause the battery to explode or cause serious burns on the skin. You shouldn't carry it in a backpack, purse, or in any handbag for the same reasons. I would carry my MOD in a protective carrying case, or in my hand.

Check for Vent Holes
Think of your MOD like a balloon. Balloons will burst when there is too much pressure built up, your MOD could do the same thing. Heat and pressure build up inside of your MOD. If there is nowhere for this pressure to go, your MOD could explode, shatter, crack, or break. If this were to happen, it could cause serious damage to you and others near you. To avoid these outcomes, you should always purchase a MOD with vent holes. Vent holes will release the pressure rapidly, preventing the gasses from reaching dangerous levels.
